Therion Lloyd Boyd, age 70, of Hoschton passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016. Therion was a member, deacon and trustee at The Church of Hoschton. He was Captain and Watch Commander for the Gainesville Police Department for 28 years, 11 years with Jackson County Sheriff’s Department as the Training Instructor and founding member of the West Jackson Fire Department. He was a member of the North Georgia Harley Owners Group and the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. Therion loved camping, hunting, fishing, and was a trained gunsmith and firearm enthusiast. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Vernelle Boyd; son Phillip Boyd and wife Kathy of Washington State; daughter Anita Boyd Lewis and husband Bruce of Hoschton; brothers Bobby Boyd and wife Vivian of SC, Damon Boyd and wife Barbara of VA; grandchildren Trent Boyd, Hailey Brewer, Hallie Brewer, Will Brewer, Emma Brewer, Justin Loudermilk, Alyssa Ballantyne, Christy Lewis, Landon Lewis and Andy Lewis; great grandchildren Kendall and Morgan and a host of other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents Therion E. and Louise Clark Boyd. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, August 22, 2016 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cory Sexton, Former Gainesville Chief of Police Frankie Hooper, Sheriff Janis Mangum and Bobby Boyd will be officiating. Interment to follow at the City of Hoschton cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the funeral home.
