Edna Mae Reece Sell, 83, of Hoschton, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, William Horace Sell, her son Shannon Sell and wife Kimberly, grandchildren Rebecca Crawford and husband Jason, Alex Oliver, Kate and John Fouts and many cousins, nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to her as Aunt Edna or Gran. She was a lifetime member of Hoschton United Methodist Church. Edna was known for many things including her great spirit, high energy level and determination, love of family and friends. Always involved in the community, Edna served in the Hoschton Women’s Civic Club, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Jackson County Tax Assessor’s Office, and she was a huge supporter and actively involved in Jackson County and Georgia 4-H. She loved swimming and was a founding member of the Family Sports and Recreation Pool in Hoschton/Braselton where she taught countless numbers of children and adults to swim. Edna will also be remembered for her incredible love of dogs, holding a special affection to the weimaraner. She nurtured and cared for no less than 100 puppies, in a variety of breeds, and made sure that their forever homes were as loving as her own. Edna served in the Air Force and was a recruiter for them in Athens. She received her B.S. in animal science from the University of Georgia. Edna is preceded in death by her parents, Avie Carl and Ruby Reece, brother Marion Reece, and son Scott Sell. She requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to Georgia 4-H Foundation, c/o Sarah McKinney, University of Georgia, 309 Hoke Smith Annex, Athens, GA 30602. A brief memorial service with extended visitation immediately following will be at 5:00 pm Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Lawson Funeral Home, 4532 Highway 53, Hoschton, GA, 30548, www.lawsonfuneralhome.org, 706-654-0966.
