Clarence Roger Pethel, age 81, of Gillsville passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Clarence was a member of Faith Pentecostal Church in Hull, Ga. He retired from Napa Auto Parts. Clarence was a fisherman and a big fan of NASCAR. Survivors include his son Keith Pethel and wife Yvonne of Gillsville; daughter Karen Pethel of Carnesville; brothers Eddie Pethel and wife Debbie, Charles Pethel and wife Martha all of Jefferson, Sammy Pethel and wife Sandra of Talmo; sisters Demaris Bruce and husband Horace of Pendergrass, Pam Wilburn of Jefferson and Gail Standridge of Commerce, grandchildren Zackery Pethel, Sabrina LeCount and Mandi Belin, 12 grandchildren and a host of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife Allie Sue Rogers Pethel; parents Loyld and Maggie Tate Pethel; son Stevie Pethel and brother Larry Joe Pethel. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Herman Brock will be officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens, GA. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, March 26, 2021 at the funeral home.
