  5. Cornelius Cornelssen, “Was awarded the Bronze Star for ‘exemplary conduct in ground combat against the armed enemy’ during the Rhineland Campaign in early 1945. He earned two Purple Hearts for his war wounds in Luxembourg and Arracourt, in northern France.”

To his children, a son and daughter, Jeanne Cornelssen, we are amazed to learn about your father and how he survived the battlefield and even the hospital when it was blown up. God had plans for him despite the enemy trying to take him from us. Cornelius made a wonderful life and family. Thank you for sharing his story with us.

I’m in California visiting my mother and father. My dad is also a WWII veteran, but he didn’t see combat. He’s still alive at 94. I know you will have many veterans come to celebrate your father’s extraordinary life on Saturday, Dec 29.
