James Lee Colwell

colwell-jamesJames Lee “Jim” Colwell, age 64, of Winder and formerly of Asheville, NC passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017.  Jim was born July 21 1952, in Fostoria, OH. He was retired from a rewarding career in commercial lighting design and sales. He truly enjoyed and had a passion for sales. He knew how to take good care of a customer. He served four years in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany and Washington State. He loved the outdoors and adventure. He spent many years kayaking and camping with many lifelong friends. He enjoyed horses and later he really enjoyed the game of golf. He was a HUGE football fan and loved Ohio State and the Carolina Panthers. He cherished his dog Chance who was always by his side. Survivors include his son Peter Donaldson and wife DeAnna of FL; daughters Shannon Marciano and husband John of Jefferson, Michelle Otto and husband David of Hoschton; sister Gwen Kamas-Herd; grandchildren Caulin, Mathew, Dylan, Wyatt, Owen, Lindsay, Julia, Hunter and Channing; 2 nieces; 1 nephew and a host of other relatives.  Memorial services will be held 3:00 pm Friday, January 6, 2017 at Southside Church, 8144 Jefferson Road, Athens, GA, 30607.  Pastor Jeff Williams will be officiating.  The family will receive friends half an hour prior to services at the church.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Jim to For the Love of Missions, www.FortheLoveofMissions.org.  Arrangements by Lawson Funeral Home, 4532 Hwy 53, Hoschton, GA, 30548, www.lawsonfuneralhome.org, 706-654-0966.

  2. RIP Jimbo…you were always my knight in shining armor when I needed it. We laughed, we white water rafted, we camped out, we drank together. Your sense of humor and humility will be greatly missed by those who knew you and loved you.
