June Lenora Arnold

June Lenora Arnold born on October 5, 1935 in Greenville, SC, June Lenora Arnold was the daughter of Ruby Rose Brown Schoenly and Ralph C. Batson, who passed away when she was 3 years old.  Her mother “Rose” remarried to Daniel L. Schoenly, who was always known to her as her and the rest of her family as her father.  June was a loving and devoted wife and caring mother, she married Edward Lee Arnold in 1955 in Orleans, France where Ed was stationed by the United States Army, Corps of Engineers.  June and Ed lived and raised their family in numerous in the United States, and overseas in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, before settling in the Washington D.C. area and retiring a few years later to Hilton Head, SC.  June took on the challenges of moving every few years in the military family by making each place a launching point for fun adventures with her husband and children.  Always energetic, she wasn’t good at sitting still, and could often be found walking the trails of Hilton Head Island for miles and miles, saying hello to everyone.  With a bright smile and kindness to everyone, she was known for baking fresh bread and amazing pies, and very involved in volunteering with Deep Well Project of Hilton Head and Hilton Head Habitat for Humanity’s thrift shop.  She was also very active for many years at Island Lutheran Church of Hilton Head, SC.  June passed away on February 28, 2020 of Alzheimer’s and she is now at rest with her Heavenly Father.  Her devoted husband Ed passed away on November 11, 2019.  She is survived by her sister Carole Anne Burgett of Cocoa, FL and Asheville, NC; brother Samuel Schoenly of Myrtle Beach, SC; son Gary Arnold, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Arnold of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren Holly Arnold and David Arnold; daughter Elizabeth Rose Hubers of Braselton and grandchildren Jessica and Matthew Hubers; and daughter Catherine Uhrig, son-in-law Richard Uhrig of Reston, VA, and grandchildren Richard, Andrew and Michael Uhrig.  The family will hold a memorial service on Hilton Head Island, SC at a date to be determined in Spring of 2020.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, Deep Well Project of Hilton Head or Hilton Head Habitat of Humanity.  Arrangements by Lawson Funeral Home, 4532 Hwy 53, Hoschton, GA 30548, www.lawsonfuneralhome.org, 706-654-0966.
