Marie Mauldin Jackson

Marie Mauldin Jackson, 62, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2019. Mrs. Jackson loved and cherished her family and the Lord more than anything else. In her free time, you could find her reading, shopping, and spending time at the beach. Her laugh and smile would light up any room that she was in, and she always knew how to say what you needed to hear. Mrs. Jackson had a passion for teaching, and she loved her kindergarten students. She fought valiantly against ovarian cancer for 5 years. Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Edward Jackson; son, Will Jackson and his wife, Hannah; nephew, Greg Mauldin; niece, Brittiany Mauldin Lathrup; and many other caring relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Jonnye Mauldin; brother, Greg Mauldin; and nephew, Jacob Mauldin. The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 11th at the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel, with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 pm. They also ask that friends of Marie share their memories of her by emailing them to [email protected]. The stories of her can be long, short, funny or serious; the family (and future family) would love to read them all. In lieu of flowers, Marie asked that donations be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, www.ocrahope.org. Arrangements made by Lawson Funeral Home, 4532 Hwy 53 Hoschton, GA 30548, www.lawsonfuneralhome.org, 706-654-0966.

  1. What can I say about a best friend and the best sister in law ever! From the moment I became a part of her family, I knew we would have a deep bond forever! Even when she was sick she would still come to see her mother and myself once a week. She always said she wanted to come home . We would shop and go to lunch even if she was not feeling well. Up until about a month ago, we were still texting and talking on the phone almost daily. She is the strongest person I have ever known. The absolute love she had for her family cannot be denied. The fight that she had in her was beyond inconceivable. This has not been an easy road for that amazing family that is for sure. I know that she has hugged my son and Gan in heaven because I asked her too. Marie would do anything for her family.

  2. Sweetest, most sincere and genuine woman! Marie was a blessing to all who knew and loved her. Never a moment where she saw anything but the best in people and given situations. She will be greatly missed, but I am thankful that the light that she brought into our lives will forever live on within us. Prayers being lifted for her family. We love you, Marie!

  4. What can I say about the best woman ever? Marie always had a smile on her face and her laugh was amazing . I worked with her for over 15 years. She was simply the best. I wanted to be her when I grew up. Whenever you were feeling overwhelmed with school, which was a lot, her words were…its going to be fine, or here’s a straw suck it it up. Lol! I have so many wonderful memories of her. My heart is broken, but I know that she is rejoicing in heaven and pain free. I love you Marie and I will miss my sweet friend! Praying for family and friends!
