William Merritt Bostic

 

William Merritt Bostic, age 81, of Braselton passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021.  Mr. Bostic was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.  He played basketball at Lenoir City High School and his team won the State Championship in 1958.  He was an avid Tennessee Volunteer sports fan.  Mr. Bostic loved music and was a talented guitar player.  Mr. Bostic  served in the United States Army.  Survivors include his wife of 56 years Polly Ann Gentry Bostic of Braselton; son Tim Bostic and wife Debby of Monroe; brothers David Bostic and wife Mary Jane of Buford, Jerry Bostic and wife Phyllis of TN; sisters Betty Sue Matthews and husband Steve of TN, Martha Burgess and husband James of AL and Debbie Littleton of TN; grandchildren Katie Jarvis and husband Tyler and Kelsey Bostic all of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Lucy Bostic and sister Minnie Townson.  Memorial services will be held with military honors 6:00 pm Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Rodney Peavy and Rev. Jerry Cline will be officiating.  Interment of cremains will be held 11:00 am Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Loudon County Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6505 US-11, Lenoir City, TN, 37771.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.   2. I was sad to read about the passing of William Bostic in the Knoxville paper this morning. I’m a distant relative on his side of the family. I knew his brother more and then only heard about William. You always sympathize with the family in the loss of a loved one regardless of how much you know them. My thoughts, prayers and condolences are offered to this family… I also represent my mother in these condolences and her name is Stella Massey.
