Verlin Boudreaux Murphy, age 92 of Gainesville passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023. She was a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Baton Rouge, LA for 48 years as well as the Prince of Peace Parish in Flowery Branch for 10 years and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, #7017 in Denham Springs, LA. She was a 1948 graduate of Baker High School in Baker, LA. Verlin is survived by her children Robert Murphy and wife Jenny of Germantown, TN; Ragan Murphy and fiancé Melissa of Brandon, MS; Sharon Gaston and husband Tom of Flowery Branch, GA; sister Beverly Engels of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren Matthew Murphy of Blacksburg, VA; Ben Murphy of Roanoke, VA; Anna Murphy of Germantown, TN; Alayna Bowman of Charleston, SC; Roger Murphy of Brandon, MS; Patrick Murphy of Starkville, MS; Michael Gaston of Wake Forest, NC; great grandchildren Rivers Murphy of Brandon, MS; Charles Bowman of Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert G. Murphy; son Roger E. Murphy; parents Camille and Blanche Boudreaux; brothers Raymond Boudreaux and Louis Boudreaux. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am Friday, February 24, 2023 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, LA. Entombment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Verlin was truly a great lady! We had some good conversations during the time she was my neighbor She always wanted to be called by her first name. I re-call calling her Mom once . She straightened me out and I called her Verlin from then on. You would never know she was in her nineties . We loved her and she will be missed! Our Deepest Sympathies to the family.
