Sandy J. Hicks, age 76, of Loganville passed away in the hospital on Sunday evening, February 13, 2022, due to complications recovering from a stroke he suffered in his home the week prior. Sandy was born in Jefferson, Georgia to the parents of Mrs. Irene Hicks and Bill Hicks on July 17, 1945. Sandy married Sandra Peters on May 4, 1963 and he worked at the City of Monroe until he retired in 1986. After retirement Sandy continued his passion of building homes, fishing and spending time with his family. Sandy and Sandra built their homes and raised a family of five wonderful children, primarily in Monroe, before settling in Loganville in 2005. Sandy lost his wife on the morning of July 25, 2020, is survived by his daughters; Stephanie Lucas of Cumming, Dawn Townsend of Gainesville, Kim Smith of Clermont; Suzanne Duffey of Dahlonega and son John Hicks of Loganville; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family of Sandy J Hicks wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses, special people and other family members for the special care they gave to Sandy. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, 3650 Hwy 124, Jefferson, GA, 30548. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the funeral home.
