Cecil Skillin passed away peacefully on March 1, 2022, at 94 years of age.
Cecil was born in Maine to Ruth and Ralph Skillin. He grew up in Kenduskeag, Maine as the oldest of nine children.
Civic duty was always a core value for Cecil. He served his communities in many ways including the Optimist club of Naples, a member of the Masons for over 60 years belonging to the Ashlar Lodge in Auburn, Maine, and a volunteer distributing food to the needy for the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program in the 1980s. As a child of the Great Depression, seeing that people had food was always a passion.
Cecil is survived by two sons, a daughter-in-law, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Cecil is preceded in death by his wife Vanette of 53 years and a daughter-in-law.
A private event will be held to remember Cecil. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Northeast Georgia Homeless Veterans Shelter (https://www.neghvs.org/) would support a cause that Cecil avidly contributed to in his community.
