Leona Frances Davis, age 87, of Flowery Branch passed away Saturday June 7, 2014. Leona grew up on a farm 10 miles outside of Dublin, GA. The first time she ever went to town she was 13 years old. She loved to dance and by all accounts was very light on her feet. Leona enjoyed fishing every chance she got even when she fell in her momma’s pond trying to land the fish. An avid race fan, she could be found on Sunday afternoon watching the race and pulling for “her driver” Jeff Gordon. During the week you could always catch her watching her soaps. Her favorite hobby was growing beautiful flowers and plants and working in the yard. Leona was a loving, accepting, quietly supportive mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and mother-in-law. She could be stubborn and feisty when the mood struck her or the situations called for it. She was a strong southern woman who will be greatly missed. She was survived by her son Jimmy Davis and wife Patti of Flowery Branch; daughter Judy Corbin of Madison, GA; brothers Bernard (PeeWee) Kennedy and wife Annelle, J.B. Kennedy and wife Lillian; sisters Anne Bramblett and Grace Lampp; 8 grandchildren Christy Willis, Jimmy Davis, Jr. and wife Jenny, Johnny Davis and wife Amanda, Shelley Brown and husband Billy, Fonda Corbin, Eddie Corbin, Jr. and wife Chris, Jay Stakes and Dan Stakes; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Lawson Funeral Home. Interment will be held at the Hoschton City Cemetery.
