Mr. William Gregory Pendergast

Mr. William Gregory Pendergast, William G. Pendergast, August 3, 1931 – August 3, 2011. William G. Pendergast, 80, of Hoschton, Georgia passed away from an illness related to cancer. He was born in 1931 in Brighton, Massachusetts. Mr. Pendergast attended McIntosh Business College in New Hampshire and the University of Connecticut College of Insurance in Hartford, Connecticut. He served in the armed forces during the Korean War and was a member of the Patriot Guards. Mr. Pendergast retired from the Continental Insurance Corporation in 1989. He started his business career as a Trainee with Continental and progressed up through various executive capacities in the Corporation during his 35 years with the organization. He served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive officer of Casualty Insurance Company, Chicago IL, Workers Compensation and Indemnity Company of California, Los Angeles, CA, and Casualty Insurance Company of Texas in Dallas, TX. Upon retirement, he served as treasurer of the Senior Good Life Games, Board Member of the Bay Tree Condominium Association Finance Committee and Chairman of Indian River Shores Pension Trustees. He also served as a tutor in the adult literacy program. He was active in tennis, backpacking and kayaking and was an active member of the Winder YMCA. He served as Coordinator Lector at Saint Matthews Catholic Church in Winder, GA. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Josephine A. Pendergast, sons William G. Pendergast III of Dallas, TX, Timothy P. Pendergast of Lone Tree, CO, daughter Kathleen M. Pendergast, of Dallas, TX and grandson, Jack R. Pendergast, of Lone Tree, CO. William touched many lives and was very much loved. Our hearts are forever broken. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Mathews Catholic Church in Winder, GA on Saturday, August 6, at 11:00 AM.
