David Carl Atkins, age 49, of Elberton and formerly of Auburn passed away Thursday, April 17, 2019. David found pleasure in the outdoors whether he was fishing or hunting. He loved the beaches in Florida and had a passion for cars. He is survived by his mother Linda Kennedy Atkins of Elberton, formerly of Auburn; best friends Robert Collins of Elberton, Matt Canady of Hartwell and Andy Plunkett of Dahlonega; uncle Dennis Kennedy and wife Deborah of Mt. Airy; special cousins Nancy Wheeler and husband Bobby of Buford, Linda Merritt and husband Jim of Buford, Stanley Cooper and Jill Cooper of Chestnut Mountain and a host of other relatives. He is preceded in death by his father Carl Atkins, Jr. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Randy Bynum will be officiating. Interment cremation. The family will receive friends 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Sunday, April 21, 2019 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family. Love you Linda. So sorry to hear about the desth of your only son, he was your rock. I am praying you will find comfort in the Rock of your Salvation now and until the returning of Your Lord. Also, always to be able to think of what “Good Friday” truly means when you think about what leads up to Sunday, the burial of David and Jesus conqurung desth for each of us. Was so in hopes his service would be on Saturday, not sure how Sunday will work with getting Deb to church, and then there, will do my very best. Please call me. Much concern and love. That’s one man that will never be forgotten. Any time I ever need him he was there it’s going to be different not seeing him at the end of the drive way. Love u old man
