Harley S. Shirley, age 101, of Winder passed peacefully Monday May 25, 2020. Harley lived a full life, he enjoyed dancing, running his produce stand and raising chickens. Harley was preceded in death by his Wife, Ruby Shirley of 39 years, infant daughter Linda Diane Shirley, Son Jerald Shirley, Daughter Peggy Manning, Stepson James McDaniel, Stepdaughter Rhoda Rowan, survived by James Shirley wife Mauleen, Cynthia Hudgins, Deborah Ernest husband Marshall, Kenny Shirley wife Linda, Fannie Mae Ingram, Ann Abernathy husband David, Stepchildren-Barbara Campbell husband Don, Sadie Parks husband Avery, Myrtice Prince husband Ronald, Sharon Rutledge husband Wayne, Bonnie Angel husband Ralph, Charles Barnes, Girlfriend Linda Flores, numerous Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, Great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives. Special mention to his Daughter Ann Abernathy, Granddaughters Tasha Abernathy, Connie House and Great grandson Jeremy Burdette who were his caregivers for the last days of his life and took exceptional care of his every need, including getting him in a car with three children and riding him around for 2 days, he insisted that they took him to eat what he referred to as the Whopper house (AKA Burger King). Harley was a great man who made many friends, no matter where he traveled, he knew someone. He will be sincerely missed.
Family will receive visitors 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Saturday May 30, 2020 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Bo Whisnant will be officiating, Interment to be held following the service at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery 4250 McGinnis Ferry Road, Alpharetta, GA 30005. Prayers lifted for the family at this time of loss. Harley was loved by so many and will be missed by so many, but what a wonderful long life he had on this earth to be with those he loved. God rest his Soul!
Mr. Harley was a sweet Man. I didn’t know him, I only met him a couple of times. I stand in amazement that he lived such a long time. I know his Children and grand Children will miss him.
