Mrs. Helen Born Day, 86, of Braselton, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the Oaks at Braselton. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023, in the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Grayson, GA. The family will receive friends at Lawson Funeral Home in Hoschton, GA, on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Helen was born March 11, 1937, in Atlanta, GA. She was the daughter of Wesley and Nellie Arminda Born. Mrs. Day was a graduate of Smith High School in Atlanta in 1955 and then went to work for Plantation Pipeline. She married her high school sweetheart, James Day, in 1958. She was a much-loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister with abounding love for her family and friends. Helen’s greatest earthly treasure was her family. She spent most of her adult years raising and enjoying her three sons, serving as baseball team mom, school room mom, and taxi driver to all their sports and school activities. She also enjoyed planning and gathering with her friends at Smith High School reunions. Her Christian faith was nurtured for many years through her involvement at Woodlawn Baptist Church, Mountain Park FBC, and Celebration Church. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James, and her son, Mark. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Sonny Born and Larry Born. Helen is survived by her son and daughter in law, Michael and Leigh Anne Day of Hoschton, and her son and daughter in law, Kevin and Claudia Day of Jefferson; granddaughter and husband, Erin and Jordan Dunbar; granddaughter and husband, Robin and Danny Curtis; grandson and wife, Stephen and Abby Day; granddaughters Nadjha Day and Brianna Day; great granddaughter, Harper Dunbar. Hoke Smith High School, Atlanta, GA Class of 1955 wishes to express our deepest sympathy to the family of our dear class vice president, Helen Born Day. We shall miss her greatly. She was so special to our class and all her help with our many class reunions. She was a friend to all and we loved her.

I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Day. I wish I had kept in touch with her over the years because I thought of her often. She was such a sweet person to me in my youth. I know she is happy to be reunited with Mr. Day and Mark. My prayers are with the family.
