Ms. Evelyn Lyn Katherine Dixon, age 61, of Gainesville passed away January 6, 2011.
She was a devoted and wonderful Nana to her grandchildren Grace and John. Evelyn loved spending time with her family. She loved gardening and nature and being outdoors. She loved jogging and music She enjoyed traveling all over the country and world with family and friends.
Evelyn loved reading and was a member of Lanier Hills Church. She was a University of Georgia Graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy and worked as a Pharmacist in Florida and Georgia most recently at Walgreens. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry.
She was awarded the Bristol award for community service in pharmacy and was a member of the National Association of Female Executives and also served on the board. She was a member of the Lambda Kappa Sigma International Pharmacy Fraternity.
She is survived by her daughter Deanna Dixon Fawcett and husband Chris of Gainesville, mother, Mildred Orth of Denver CO, sisters, Audrey Monson and husband Rick, Centennial CO, Marilyn Talboys and husband Bill of Cave Rock, AZ, Gloria Sills and husband Jon of Ventura CA, Beverly Seebach and husband Helle of Mainz Germany, Debbie Johnson of Denver CO, Cindy Buitron of Ventura CA, grandchildren, Grace Fawcett and John Fawcett.
She was preceded in death by her father Fredrick Orth of Greenley CO
Memorial Services will be held at Lanier Hills Church at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 8, 2011. Officiating Pastor Randall Popham. The family will receive friends two hours before the services at Lanier Hill Church, 3129 Duckett Mill Road, Gainesville, Ga. 30506.
In lieu of flowers contributions maybe made to the Winn Dixie Hope Lodge 1552 Shoup Court, Decatur, Ga. 30033.
