Richard Alan Jones

Richard Alan Jones, age 76, of Snellville passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2019. Richard was born in 1943 in Columbus, OH to Carl and Marilla (Racle) Jones, he was the second oldest of their five children.  This South High School graduate (’61 – Columbus, OH) retired from a successful career in the paint and coatings industry where he was involved in projects all over the globe. In addition to his career, Dick was a devoted community servant and worked tirelessly on projects for numerous organizations. He was a Lion, a Rotarian, a Mason, active in the Hall County Chamber of Commerce, and he loved Junior Achievement. His communities have recognized him on multiple occasions as his walls are lined with plaques of gratitude. He pursued achievement within these organizations receiving Silver Shovels from the Chamber of Commerce, attaining his 32nd Degree, recognized by the Kentucky Colonels, and acknowledgment as a Melvin Jones Fellow with Lions Club International.  If you asked him, he would say the most gratifying work he did was on behalf of his lake community at the Gresham Park Boating Club on Clark Hill Lake. In his 15 years on that lake, this small community worked together to take care of one another and build precious memories. On several occasions, he served in leadership positions for that community and it is at Gresham Park where he spent his time enjoying his life with family and friends.  Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck, his father and mother and his son David. He is survived by his wife Claudia (Hoyt), his son Rick and his daughter in law Alicia (Greenway), his granddaughter Isabelle, his three sisters, Beverly (Purdy), Rosemary (Jewett), and Bonnie (Nelson), and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel, 4532 Hwy 53, Hoschton, GA 30548, www.lawsonfuneralhome.org, 706-654-0966.  Arrangements by Lawson Funeral Home.
