Sylvia Riley Dedels, age 83 of Hoschton passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Sylvia and Richard Dedels moved to Hoschton in 1999 to their home. It housed decades worth of celebrations, traditions, and memories. It was also meticulously and beautifully decorated by Sylvia. Lovingly known as “UhHee” by her family, UhHee’s blue eyes and smile were contagious to anyone that came in contact with her. She knew how to have fun, no matter what the occasion was and would find humor in any situation. UhHee enjoyed trying new restaurants, no matter the distance. She loved her jalapeños spicy, her bloody mary’s strong, and her jokes salty. Out of all the things she loved in life, she loved her family the most. She would always say, “What’s better than being here with all of y’all?” Sylvia is survived by her husband, best friend, and love of her life of 62 years Richard Dedels; sons Allen Dedels and Brenda, Stephen Dedels; daughter Leigh Chauvin and Layton; grandchildren Kelsey, Alex, Olivia, Katie, and Maddie all whom she loved very much. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Lawson Funeral Home, 4532 Hwy 53 Hoschton, Ga. 30548. lawsonfuneralhome.org. 706-654-0966
Although I’ve not seen cousin Sylvia in years, I know she remained what she was in our youth: beautiful, generous and fun-loving. Time flies too swiftly and life is too often too short. My very best to you, Dick, and all of yours.
Sylvia and I grew up in Alabama. We spent many summers at each other’s homes. How much fun we had being pre-teens and teenagers. So many great memories to cherish, even as adults working in Downtown Birmingham. Yes, Sylvia and I enjoyed times of laughter. She was adorable! Love and thoughts, Kay Garrard
