William “Bill” Eugene Hood, age 76, of Monroe passed away Friday, September 23, 2016. Bill was a graduate of Georgia State University and a United States Army Veteran. Bill worked with Firemans Fund Insurance, Maryland Casualty in Atlanta and with the Lawrenceville Housing Authority. He was a member of Dacula First Baptist Church were he was a Deacon and taught Sunday School. Bill loved to play to golf as a hobby. Survivors include his wife of 54 years Wylene Holcombe Hood of Monroe; sons Mark Hood and fiancée Erin Stelle of Monroe, Scott Hood and wife Joane of Dacula; daughters Gayle Holbert and husband Randy of Monroe, Marie Powell and husband Dan of Hoschton; brother Richard Hood and late wife Daryl Hood of Buford; sister Carroll Holloman and husband Jim of NC; grandchildren Olivia Hood, Amelia Hood, Brett Hood and Blake Hood and fiancée Kristina Freeman, Meagan Holbert, Erin Holbert, Hannah Gregory and a host of other relatives. He is preceded in death by his father and stepmother Robert E. Hood and Gwendolyn Hood; mother Flora Garrett Hood. Memorial services will be held 12:00 pm Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Dacula First Baptist Church, 2534 Winder Hwy, Dacula, GA, 30019 with Pastor Mark Chandler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org.
