William Ray Smith, age 73, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018. He worked 30 plus years at Thrall Car. He loved sports and was a big Ga Tech fan. He was a loving father. Survivors include daughters Patty Johnson and husband David of Bethlehem, GA, Tracey Reynolds of Corodel, GA and Holly Smith of Toccoa, GA; sister Elaine Zabiel of Statham, GA; grandchildren Ryan Johnson, Kailea Depew, Cole Johnson, Steven Johnson and Lexi Johnson; great grandchildren Jacob Depew, Kaitlyn Depew, Leighann Depew and Adalyn Johnson. He is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Johnnie Smith and son Joey Smith. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Auburn City Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel.
