Julia Lewis Hayes

Julia Lewis Hayes, age 68, of Buford passed away Monday, January 30, 2017.  Julia was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. Julia was a fun, loving person and will be missed by all. Julia was a very outgoing person and was involved in many, many organizations.    She was a member of the Buford Women’s Club, Red Hat Society, Georgia Federation of Womens Club in Tallulah Falls, Ga. and worked with homeless shelters.  Survivors include her husband of 19 years Donald Hayes; step sons Ted Hayes and wife Janná and  Dan Hayes; grandchildren Marla Hayes, Donna Schwarz, Dusty Hayes, Amber Deadrick and Kim Partridge; 7 great grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends; and her cat Andrew.  She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Bruster Lewis and sister Mary.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, February 3, 2017 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rev. David Cozad officiating.  The family will receive friends 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the funeral home.  Interment will be family only at Eternal Hills Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 201 Washington Street SW, Atlanta, GA 30303.  Funeral arrangements by Lawson Funeral Home, 4532 Hwy 53, Hoschton, GA, 30548, www.lawsonfuneralhome.org, 706-654-0966.

  2. So sorry for your loss. I really enjoyed worshiping with Julia at Holiday Chapel. She was a blessing for everyone as she led the singing. Prayers for Donald and family. She was such a friend to me when I lost Tommy 2 years ago as she helped put together the memorial service for him at the chapel.

  7. Don, I am so sorry for your loss. I loved Julia. She was my friend and I thought of her a second Mom. You both have had such an impact in my life. I will so miss having lunch with Julia and hearing about all of your trips. She took care of me when I was sick, and when my kids and I needed help. I will never forget her. And I know how much she loved you. She was so generous with her love, time and service to this world. She will be missed by so many.

  8. Don, We learned of Julia’s passing on the CPHS website. We are so sorry for your loss. We are glad we had the opportunity to visit with you and Julia at the reunion. Julia was sweet and friendly and will surely be missed. Our prayers are with you and your family .

  9. My heart goes out to the Hayes family. Julia was such an inspiration. Even though I only knew her for a short time (SKH at Buford FUMC), she left such an impression on giving and leadership. Prayers to Don and the family.
