Thelma Ruth McGee

Thelma Ruth McGee, of Tucker, loving Mother and Granny passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 88 years old. She was the devoted wife to Julius Donald McGee who preceded her in death in 1999. She loved children and was affectionately known as Mama or Granny Gee by many. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother Lloyd and Ruby Barber; brother L. D. Barber Jr (Bobbie Barber); sister Lavonia Rogers (Mack Rogers). She leaves behind sister Geraldine Nash (Neal Nash); son Johnny McGee (Mary McGee); daughters Nancy Kelley (David Johnson) and Melissa Vines (Troy Vines); six grandchildren Anita Potter (Brian Potter), Jennifer McGee (Brian Arnold), Heather Puckett (William Puckett), Ethan Vines (Riley Bausch), Evan Vines (Madison Moak) and Matthew Duncan McGee along with great grandchildren Julian McGee, Bricen and Jalen Potter and Reed and Justin Puckett and a host of other relatives. A Funeral service will be held 11:30 am, May 20, 2023 at Lawson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. David Moon. Interment Floral Hills Memory Garden.   3. Ms McGee was a wonderful woman who blessed us here at magnolia for many years. She always had a wonderful smile and a kind word for all of us. As the years went by she was our Molly and we all loved seeing her smile when we called her that. My heart is broken but I’m so glad for the time the Lord let us have her here. She will be truly missed. 😢

  4. I am forever grateful to Mom McGee. I am so blessed that she raised my life-long best friend. She treated me like her own daughter and I was fortunate to have her as a friend. She will be missed by many. When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! Reunion with Mom McGee will be one more blessing!
